About

Alicia Engelhardt

I'm a native New Orleanian, and my journey to becoming a counselor is a reflection of my life's path. After graduating from the University of New Orleans in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, I spent several years in the computer field before dedicating myself to raising my four wonderful children—two boys and two girls—with my husband of over 25 years. My years as a stay-at-home mom, substitute teacher, and dedicated volunteer gave me a unique perspective on the dynamics of family and community.

Alicia Engelhardt Counseling

My lifelong fascination with relationships and psychology led me back to school at the age of 45, a decision that culminated in my Master of Arts degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling from the University of Holy Cross in 2020. Now, as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor, I find my work incredibly rewarding. It's a privilege to assist people where it truly matters—in their daily lives and relationships. I believe life can be stressful, and we often don't take enough time to care for our mental and emotional well-being. It is a huge honor to walk alongside my clients on their search for healing.

Outside of my professional life, I am a passionate musician. I've been playing flute and piano since elementary school and have been a member of the New Orleans Concert Band for over 30 years. I also enjoy playing for summer musicals, weddings, and church services. In my free time, you'll find me playing or listening to music, reading, running, swimming, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with my family, friends, and two Shih Tzu puppies and two cats.

I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Story-Informed Trauma Therapy (SITT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I incorporate these and other therapeutic methods into an integrative, client-centered approach to best serve your individual needs.
